A special find from Tucson were spinel crystals from Lec Yen of the Yen Bai Provence in Vietnam. Spinel crystals are very hard to find as the gemmy crystals are faceted into highly coveted jewelry. Despite the fact we were actively looking for spinel, we only found a few crystals. These crystals have a stunning reddish orange color and interesting octahedral formations. The exteriors have nooks and crannies and are covered in etchings. Most of these crystals have bright gemmy patches.
