The crystals from the Brandberg region in Namibia are quite rare. They are only available when they find a new pocket in the Gobobos Mountains in Namibia. Aside from their rarity, these crystals are prized for their beauty; each and every one is a jewel from the earth. And their energy is nothing to be discounted either; they have a clear and bright energy as a whole that is very strong and direct. Brandberg crystals are known for their powerful energy that is very high vibration yet grounding at the same time. Brandbergs are known to open doors and new paths and unblocking channels in our consciousness. They help to lighten up life with crystalline energy and power. These crystals often have wispy phantoms, bright luster and fairly good clarity. Some even have enhydro bubbles.

Every time I hold this crystal, I feel like I'm greeting an old friend.  I feel Grandpapa quite clearly as an old gentleman with cottony white hair and shining ebony skin that is only dimmed by the brilliance of his smile.  Such a joyous soul! His joy is tempered but not diminished by the wisdom he has accumulated as the millennia have marched past him.  A double terminated Brandberg that shows no signs of being attached to a matrix anywhere, he can technically be considered a floater. His surface is covered in glyphs with a high concentration in one area of sharply geometric shapes that run from one termination to another.  As you turn the crystal to examine the adjacent facets of his shaft, these glyphs lose their angular forms and become circles that eventually become fluid lines caressing his surface.  On his terminations, these glyphs show as record keepers marking his incredible experience.  His interior is mist filled with hoppers and rainbows chasing through the veils.  Smoky phantoms grace his points adding to his warm stability.

The crystal measures 2.8" x 1.2" x 0.9" and weighs 2.3oz.

Smoky Quartz is almost a default crystal in any crystal layout. It is grounding, protective and can transform negative energy into positive energy. As one friend put it to me, Smoky Quartz is good for humans, because we are currently quite murky beings ourselves! It is a very joyful crystal. It is helpful to hold if you have other crystals that UN-ground you such as Moldavite.  Phantom crystals in Smoky are very powerful in breaking old patterns and blockages.
