Tugtupite is a stone that we don't carry very often, but we picked up a few of these rare beauties while we were in Tucson. Tugtupite was first discovered in 1962 in Tugtup, Greenland and to-date has only been found in two other locations. The finds are very small and, as a result, tugtupite is a very rare find. It varies in color from white, pink, to red, and crimson. Only tugtupite from Greenland is deeply colored and considered valuable as a gemstone. This piece comes from Greenland. The Inuit of Greenland say that lovers can cause the stone to glow fiery red from the heat of their passion.

This rare piece of tugtupite is unpolished and completely natural. The tugtupite is rooted in a bed of white matrix with patches of very light pink. The color will deepen when exposed to sunlight or placed under a black light. This change will last for awhile, but is not permanent, repeat to "recharge" the color. A black light will also cause the pink areas to glow orange. A perfect palm sized piece that fits very nicely in your hand. Using this stone during meditation will open the deepest areas of the heart chakra creating an abundance of energy that will flow upwards and create a harmonious union with the functioning of the heart, throat, third-eye and crown chakras. An intense awareness of joy and rapturous love will course through ones emotional and physical bodies. On the physical level, tugtupite helps to relieve the symptoms of vertigo, motion sickness, and alleviates your sensitivities of the earth movements (notably earthquakes).

The stone measures 3" x 1.2" x 0.8" and weighs 1.6 oz.

Tugtupite is a stone of the heart chakra, in the deepest sense. Its energy will arouse lost passion and love. It will also reawaken lost grief and heartache so that one can be released from these emotions and open the heart once again. It releases the “floodgates” of passion and one must be prepared for possible upheavals throughout every day life. Ones perception of what love is will truly change. It connects the heart chakra with the upper chakras. One will become more open to a higher consciousness and will become more psychic. On a physical level it will strengthen the nervous system, the auric field and heart.
